In both Germany and America, the perception of crime has often outweighed reality. Crime today is consistently down, but Americans consistently believe it’s up. The far-right exploits sensationalized news, turning public anxiety into justifications for police crackdowns that disproportionately target the vulnerable, all while strengthening their hold.
